Thanksgiving came early this year! Turkeys were flying out the door and into the waiting arms of grateful families in the 19th Police District.

“You can't get any better feeling than when you give to a family and you see they really appreciate it.”

- Captain John Stanford

A 49 Year tradition, the P.P.D. has collected donations from officers and their civilian counterparts to create as many dinners with all the trimmings their donations could buy. This year 450 Thanksgiving dinners were assembled and distributed throughout the city. Thirty of those dinners, along with an extra dozen donated from the local community, found their way to families in the 19th Dist. and hand delivered by Captain John Stanford and Community Relations Officer Vanessa Washington.

“If we don't have enough, we'll put our money together, the officers come together and we try our best to make sure these families have Thanksgiving dinner. This type of community sharing is as important to our officers as it is for our residents. It’s our duty to serve and protect but we also assist and share".

- Vanessa Washington

Community Relations Officer

Way to go 19th P.P.D.! Your community spirit is appreciated. Keep up the great work.
